The Mathura District Administration’s English tourism page describes Braj Chaurasi Kos as an approximately 252 km, seven-day pilgrimage reference. Its Hindi tourism page separately describes a longer traditional walking pilgrimage of about 360 km, generally completed in around 40 days.

Braj Chaurasi Kos Yatra is a pilgrimage through the wider Braj region, connecting sacred towns, temples, forests, kunds, sarovars, ghats and places associated in Braj tradition with the divine pastimes of Shri Radha Krishna.
The journey brings pilgrims through celebrated destinations such as Mathura, Gokul, Mahavan, Baldeo, Govardhan, Radha Kund, Barsana, Nandgaon and Vrindavan, together with other sacred places of the wider Braj Mandal.
This is not simply a sightseeing tour. It is an opportunity to experience the spiritual geography, living traditions and devotional heritage of Braj Bhoomi.

According to Hindu tradition, Shri Krishna was born in Mathura and was taken by Vasudeva across the Yamuna to the safety of Gokul. Gokul and Mahavan are therefore deeply associated with Krishna’s childhood and the loving care of Nanda Baba and Yashoda Maiya. Raman Reti is traditionally remembered as a sacred sandy landscape associated with Krishna, Balarama and their childhood pastimes.

Baldeo is traditionally associated with Shri Balarama, the elder brother of Shri Krishna. The celebrated Dauji Temple is one of the important pilgrimage centres of this part of Braj. The wider journey then introduces travellers to the sacred forest landscape for which ancient Braj is remembered.
Stops may be adjusted according to temple timings, road conditions and available darshan time.

The Story of Giriraj Govardhan: In Hindu tradition, Shri Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill to protect the people of Braj from torrential rain associated with Indra’s wrath. For devotees, Giriraj Govardhan remains a deeply revered manifestation of divine protection and devotion. Today the Govardhan Parikrama connects sacred sites including Daan Ghati, Jatipura, Punchari, Kusum Sarovar, Radha Kund, Mansi Ganga and Govind Kund.

Barsana is revered in Braj tradition as the sacred land of Shri Radha. Its hills, kunds and temples preserve a living devotional culture centred on Radha Krishna. Nandgaon is traditionally associated with Shri Krishna’s childhood and Nanda Baba. Nand Bhawan stands as one of its best-known sacred landmarks.
